As the VW Rookie Cup returns for its second round of the 2024 season, so does young Pretoria driver Jayden Goosen. Jayden, who debuted in the class at the Killarney opener in March, sits second in the points standings, only five points behind Dhivyen Naidoo, in his second season of Volkswagen Motorsport’s kart-to-circuit initiative. The season, consisting of five rounds, sees drivers compete in a VW Polo Vivo with a single round at Killarney International Raceway, two rounds at Zwartkops Raceway and two at the Aldo Scribante Raceway in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth).

“It’s been quite the wait for the second round to get underway, and in the meantime, I’ve been keeping busy and trying to hone my skills in other forms of racing. But this weekend, I’ll be keen on taking my first win around a more familiar circuit. As before I am sure it will be close contest between all the drivers. Thanks to all those who support me, including my sponsors and VW,” said Jayden.

Jayden will be on the circuit on Friday for three practice sessions at 08:00, 10:30, and 13:30 before qualifying starts at 16:00 later that afternoon. Two 10-lap races get underway at 10:05 and 14:00 on Saturday.

Join us for a day of adrenaline-fueled racing! The 15-race programme kicks off at 10:05 on Saturday. Spectator tickets are readily available at the Zwartkops Raceway entrance or can be conveniently purchased by emailing info@zwartkops.co.za. Can’t make it to the race? Don’t worry; the entire race day will also be broadcast live on https://extremefestival.co.za/live/.
