As the 2025 Astron Energy Polo Cup season kicks off, all eyes are on Tyler Robinson, one of South Africa’s leading female circuit racers. Entering her second season in this fiercely competitive championship, Tyler brings a wealth of experience and a determined mindset to the grid.
Tyler’s motorsport journey began in the demanding world of two-stroke karting, where she honed her racecraft and developed the competitive edge necessary for success. Her transition to circuit racing came through the INEX Legend series, a crucial steppingstone where she showcased her raw talent and adaptability. Building on her momentum, she gained further experience behind the wheel of a VW Challenge car, expanding her skillset and preparing her for the rigours of Polo Cup competition. In 2024, Tyler also shared a VW SupaCup drive with her father, Kyle, a former Superbike rider, while competing in the final round of the South African Endurance Series at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.
With two full seasons of the Astron Energy Polo Cup under her belt, Tyler confidently heads into the 2025 opener. Her debut season saw her tackle some of South Africa’s iconic circuits while going wheel-to-wheel against the nation’s top Polo Cup talents. This year, she again races out of the Universal Racing stable and returns with a refined approach, a deeper understanding of the car, and the ability to deliver strong performances.
“I’ve faced my share of misfortune in the past, but I’m ready to make an impact this season,” says Tyler. “With the experience I’ve gained and the support of the Universal Racing team, I feel more prepared than ever to fight at the front.”
The Astron Energy Polo Cup remains a proving ground for South Africa’s best young drivers, and Tyler has already demonstrated that she belongs among them. With her extensive background and relentless drive, she is poised to make a statement in the 2025 season opener and beyond.
The 2025 Astron Energy Polo Cup will be contested over seven rounds at circuits such as the iconic Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, the historic East London Grand Prix Circuit, Zwartkops Raceway and the Aldo Scribante Raceway, the home of VW Motorsport.
Drivers and teams head to the Killarney International Circuit this week for the traditional Extreme Festival Presented by Coca-Cola opener before returning in September for the penultimate national round.
As the lights go out on another thrilling season, expect Tyler to be a name that stands out on the track and in the championship battle ahead.
