Victron Energy South Africa brand ambassador Tjaden Tromp, is ready for his second outing in the 2024 DOE Formula Vee Partnered with CIM Lubricants Championship, to be held at Red Star Raceway this coming weekend (10-11 May)
For the TC Racing driver, who is still the youngest to line up on the Formula Vee grid, this has been a whirlwind year to date despite only having one race to his name. However, the past month has allowed for more opportunities to focus on preparation, particularly with testing at the circuit. Add to this that Red Star Raceway is a venue where Tromp competed in Formula Monoposto, and there is every reason for him to feel better prepared for Round 3 of the series.
“We are quietly confident.” Says Tromp. “the last month has really seen us put every bit of effort in after we were able to gauge where we are in the pecking order. We now know more about the journey that lies ahead. If I can compare it to something, it’s a bit like taking a road trip but with a GPS. No, the journey will not miraculously be quicker, but we now know where we will need to be at certain points.”
Tromp enters the weekend on the back of a level-headed debut outing. “While Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit was an enjoyable experience, it wasn’t easy by any means, especially given that the first of two practice sessions was the first time I could drive the circuit. Red Star, there is a familiarity about it. I know my strengths and weaknesses there, and it is a circuit where we came back strong on a couple of occasions already. I’m again looking forward to having the Delmas wind in my sails.”
Saturday’s first race will be contested over eight laps and will start at 10:55, while the second 10-lap race is scheduled for 14:40. Spectator tickets will be available at the Red Star Raceway entrance gate. The full Extreme Festival race day programme will also be broadcast live via the Extreme Festival Facebook page and 2WheelsTV YouTube channel.
