One of South Africa’s top female talents, Tyler Robinson, heads to the Eastern Cape and its Aldo Scribante Racetrack this weekend as Round 4 of the highly anticipated Astron Energy Polo Cup resumes as part of the National Extreme Festival.

Tyler, currently ranked 10th in the championship, has been on the comeback trail after experiencing a disappointing opening round in Cape Town due to a terminal incident in the opening race. Determined to gain ground in the championship, Tyler demonstrated her skill and determination with a top-seven finish in Round 2 at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit. At the following round at Zwartkops Raceway, the AF Fans-backed driver delivered a sublime performance in the opening race to record a season’s-best fourth result. While eager to repeat the feat, Tyler finished seventh in Race 2 before misfortune struck again in the final race, leaving the Gauteng driver with no points.

In her 2023 rookie season, Tyler finished eighth in Race 1 during her first appearance at Aldo Scribante Racetrack. However, a mechanical issue forced her to sit out the rest of the weekend, dampening her circuit debut. Despite this setback, the former FIA – Rising Stars Girls On Track finalist is determined to make her mark on the Gqeberha circuit as she continues to build on her strong form.

“While I may not have as much experience at Aldo Scribante (Racetrack), I refuse to let that hinder me. Every minute on Friday will be crucial for fine-tuning the car’s setup and reacquainting myself with the circuit. This is a fast and flowing circuit, with tight corners, fast sweeps, and elevation changes. The slipstream here plays a significant role, offering more advantages than most circuits. Therefore, positioning the car correctly is key to fully utilising the conditions. If we have two unhindered races, I believe we can finish on the podium,” Tyler shared, revealing her strategic approach to the race.

The 16-race program on Saturday will start at 10:10. Spectator tickets can be bought at the Aldo Scribante Racetrack entrance gate for R100 per person. Children under 12 can enter for free. The entire race day program will be broadcast live on the Extreme Festival website.
