As the Mobil 1 V8 Supercars thunder into Zwartkops Raceway for Round 4 of the championship, all eyes are on reigning champion Julian Fameliaris. His outstanding performance in the previous round, which catapulted him to the top of the leaderboard, has set the stage for an intense battle once again. Fameliaris is now in a prime position to defend his title and further extend his lead in the 2024 championship.
Driving the iconic Chevrolet Corvette, Fameliaris is backed by Gavin Wilkins and Di Mattao Racing. Their combined expertise and relentless pursuit of excellence make Fameliaris a formidable force on the track. With this being the championship’s second visit to the 2,4km Pretoria circuit in 2024, Fameliaris will be aiming to dominate and win both races after finishing as runner-up in Race 1 and victorious in Race 2 during the championship’s opening round in March.
Friday sets the stage with four practice sessions, providing Fameliaris and his team with crucial insights and fine-tuning opportunities to optimise performance for the weekend’s races. Saturday intensifies the action with a qualifying session followed by two high-octane showdowns to determine the day’s ultimate victor.
The first race, a thrilling ten-lap sprint, kicks off at 11:25. It promises adrenaline-fueled battles and heart-stopping manoeuvres as Fameliaris navigates the unique twists and turns of the renowned Zwartkops Raceway. Then, at 15:30, the excitement reaches its peak with the second heat, spanning 12 laps of pure racing spectacle.
For motorsport enthusiasts eager to witness the action firsthand, spectator tickets for the Dunlop Winter Extreme Festival will be available at the Zwartkops Raceway entrance, offering unparalleled access to the electrifying atmosphere of Mobil 1 V8 Supercars racing. For those unable to attend in person, the full Extreme Festival race day program will be broadcast live on the Extreme Festival website, ensuring no one misses a moment of the pulse-pounding excitement.
With the championship lead in his grasp and a hunger for victory driving him forward, Fameliaris and the Mobil 1 V8 Supercars is set to heat up the Highveld winter this weekend.
