Three REVO+ GTRs add fresh excitement at new Rally Raid round
It’s a level playing field as a four-car Red-Lined Motorsport factory team comprising no less than three all-new Red-Lined REVO T1+ GT-Rs heads to the second round of the South African Rally-Raid Championship, the Vryheid 400 in northern KwaZulu-Natal on 24 and 25 May.
“Vryheid will be a big weekend for us with no less than three of our brand-new REVO T1+ GT-Rs lining up for the start, so that’s pretty exciting and daunting at the same time,” team principal Terence Marsh confirmed. “Having three of these new specification T1+ cars racing allows us the opportunity to gather plenty more data in a shorter space of time which in turn allows us to accelerate our understanding and development of these new turbo cars.”
“This Northern KZN round is also a new race venue on the South African Rally-Raid Championship calendar, so it will be an interesting one with none of the lead crews having raced in the area before, which basically means virgin routes for everyone. That is especially intriguing for our lead team of Chris Visser and Albertus Venter who are starting to get to grips with our REVO+ GT-R, which already impressed on its national debut event at Malelane last month.
“The other two Ultimate class FIA T1+ REVO GT-Rs will be driven by our international drivers. Red-Lined Europe CEO Rients Hofstra is having his first outing aboard his brand-new REVO+ GT-R with local team navigator Wade Harris reading the notes. They will be joined by the Dutch pairing of Dave Klaassen and Tessa Rooth who will be out for their second outing in their similarly Godzilla-powered DaklaPack REVO+ GT-R.
“The ever-dependable Philip Botha and Roelof Janse van Vuren complete our factory team entry in the FIA T1 Adventure class in their Penta Motor Group powered VK56. We then also have a further two strong Adventure class privateers entered in Johan de Bruyn and Adriaan Roets in their Red-Lined REVO T1, and Gerhard and Rudi Heinlein in their Sirkel N VK56, with both teams looking for more class podiums after a successful opening round.
“It’s always exciting to race in new areas, so the entire Red-Lined team is primed for a proper weekend of adventure out in Vryheid,” Terence Marsh concluded. “So, best of luck as always to all our race crews as well as our ever-dependable technical support team – KwaZulu Natal here we come!”
