Successes in biggest Rally Raids around the world
Red-Lined Motorsport wrapped up its maddest ever month of racing in April when Dutch crew Ronald van Loon and Erik Lemmen drove their trusty Red-Lined VK50 to FIA T1.1 class victory at the 8-day Morocco Desert Challenge last week. Van Loon and Lemmen’s success also brought to a close a spectacularly successful and rewarding month of racing for Red-Lined’s international teams.
“Congratulations to Ronald, Erik and their Red-Lined VK50, on a splendid T1.1 class victory in the Morocco Desert Challenge last week,” Red-Lined Motorsport team principal Terence Marsh summed it up. “Their skill and determination truly shone through in a most challenging rally raid race, the second biggest event on the calendar after the Dakar Rally. Their result was however only one of several incredible achievements, as we reflect back at what’s been a really hectic month of racing for the entire, extended Red-Lined family.
“We had seventeen cars compete in three of the biggest and toughest major rally raid events across the globe over the past month. Red-Lined Motorsport managed to find success in all of these challenging and demanding events. Ronald and Erik’s most recent win only adds to a stunning Red-Lined 1-2-3-4-5 whitewash in the T1.1 Adventurer class in the opening round of the South African Rally Raid championship, alongside a great first outing for our all-new T1+ Ultimate class REVO+ GT-Rs. All of this in the most competitive rally raid series in the world, and at the time racing parallel with the Moroccan event.
“That was all of course only after another Red-Lined privateer team, Stefan Carmans and Wouter de Graaf’s Blueblocks REVO T1+ started our wild April off with their best result yet in an impressive 13th overall in a very muddy and challenging Portuguese second round of the W2RC world championship. 19-year-old Pim Klaassen and Teun van Dal also went on to record a fine fifth place in the T1.1 class aboard their DaklaPack VK50 in this race.
“All that remains is to thank and congratulate all our race crews and technical teams, as well as our official partners in Portugal, Belgium and Holland for their epic contributions to a mad and successful month of April. It was a huge and demanding month for Red-Lined Motorsport and we remain grateful to everyone for their collective contributions in realising these truly incredible achievements!”
