CompCare Polo Cup en route to Nelson Mandela Bay
The CompCare Polo Cup heads home to the Eastern Cape and Gqeberha’s Aldo Scribante racetrack for what promises to be another seismic Extreme Festival bout on Saturday 17 June. Being neutral ground for most competitors, it’s anyone’s game in what is turning out to be without doubt South Africa’s most exciting motor racing championship in 2023.
Double race winner and championship leader Charl Michael Visser leads the way to Aldo Scribante with his Tyre Zone Team Red Racing Polo, just ten points clear of closest rival, Mbombela lad Dawie van der Merwe, who has also won a race in his Nathans Motorsport Polo. But all eyes are on Visser’s Cape compatriot, comeback kid Giordano Lupini, who has won three of the seven races so far this season in spite of missing the opening round in his Tork Craft entry.
Nathan Victor makes it three Cape drivers in the CompCare Polo Cup top four aboard his Summit Racing car. Gauteng four, the ever consistent QVWI driver Farhaan Basha, rookie winner last time out, Anthony Pretorius’ OMP Bucket List Polo, ever improving JRT Racing lad Ethan Coetzee and veteran Dean Venter’s MTown VDN car will be out to defend upcountry honour down at the Bay.
Richards Bay racer Jason Loosemore will be looking to capitalise on his qualifying pace last time out in his Security Fencing & Alarms Team Red car, while Team Red teammate Jagger Robertson returns to the fray in his Liqui Moly Polo. EP fans have home hero Jeandre Marais to cheer for in his orange Syrabix Polo. If the fraught action he was party to up at Zwartkops last time out, it will be more edge of the seat stuff.
Expect no holds barred racing throughout the field between Squadra Corse’s Reaobaka Komane, who impressed at Zwartkops, Mo Karodia’s Fast 5 car, Bryce Pillay‘s Techtisa Polo, AF Fans Team Red rookie lass Tyler Robinson, Roshaan Goodman’s Upward Spiral Team Red Polo, and Cape Cooltouch newcomer Raaziegh Harris.
So it’s anyone’s game as CompCare Polo Cup heads home to the first of two neutral ground rounds at midwinter midseason Aldo Scribante’s Extreme Festival in Gqeberha Saturday 17 June. Don’t miss it!
