Stradale Motorsport’s Arnold Neveling claimed a third and fourth-place finish at the weekend’s final round of the Global Touring Cars (GTC) SupaCup Championship and ended the day fourth overall at Zwartkops Raceway.
After qualifying in third on Saturday morning, the Goscor Lift Trucks-backed driver from Johannesburg performed well to maintain his position across the finish line during extreme conditions. Race 2 would, however, see Neveling lose a place during the race to take the chequered flag in fourth. The combined results placed him fourth overall and saw him claim a seventh race podium in 2023.
“It was a tough weekend in warm conditions. Having to prepare the SupaCup car and drive it while still hopping into the Porsche for the Extreme Supercars races is no easy feat. Generally speaking, the Goscor Lift Trucks VW Supa Polo performed well. We had some great pace on Friday, which we converted to a third-place start. From there, it was more about managing the temperatures, as it is challenging to pass around here. It has been an exciting season regardless, with the racing quite close at every round. We managed quite a few podiums but would have liked to get that first win. Congrats to Bradley (Liebenberg) on the championship and thank you to my sponsors for the support throughout,” stated Neveling.
While the final results remain provisional, Neveling finished fourth in the championship.
