Cape Town’s own Max Boshoff kicked off his 2025 South African Rotax MAX Challenge campaign with an emphatic victory in the Mini MAX class at the opening round, held at Killarney Kart Circuit. Racing for the Xtreme Racing Team, Boshoff showcased his skill in a record 25-kart field, claiming the Round 1 trophy and the early championship lead.
During Friday’s qualifying session, Boshoff signalled his intent early by taking the pole position. From there, he delivered a commanding lights-to-flag victory in the first heat, setting the tone for the weekend.
Heat 2 saw him start from 11th, but he methodically carved his way through the pack, launching a decisive final-lap move to clinch his second win. In the final heat, Boshoff pushed hard and set the fastest lap of the day, ultimately finishing as runner-up and securing the overall victory for the round.
“It’s an amazing feeling to win at home in Cape Town, especially in such a competitive field,” Boshoff said after the event. “Starting my national campaign with a win gives me a great deal of confidence heading into the rest of the season. A massive shout-out to the team for all the help. Now, the focus shifts to maintaining this momentum as we head to Gauteng for the next round.
With a dominant performance in the books, all eyes will be on Boshoff as he aims to extend his championship lead when the series heads to the Vereeniging Kart Circuit on 24-26 April 2025 for Round 2.
