Max Boshoff made a statement in the opening round of the 2025 ROK Cup National Championship, claiming his first national Mini ROK victory in dominant fashion at Red Star Raceway near Delmas, Mpumalanga, this past weekend. The 11-year-old from Cape Town delivered a flawless performance, securing a clean sweep of heat wins in a fiercely contested 15-kart field.
Competing in his third national Mini ROK season, Max has already established himself as a force to be reckoned with. His pedigree includes multiple Western Province Motor Club Karting titles and the prestigious inaugural African Karting Championship Mini ROK crown in 2024. Now, with his sights set on his first national title, the Grade 6 pupil showed his intent by mastering the ever-changing conditions at Red Star Raceway.
The opening round presented a significant challenge, as the Mpumalanga weather created tricky race conditions. With insufficient rainfall at times to warrant wet-weather tyres, drivers had to navigate an unpredictable track on slicks, requiring skill and adaptability to stay ahead. Max, who competes out of Leeroy Poulter’s Xtreme Racing Team stable, showcased exceptional focus and precision to rise above and take maximum points from the event.
His emphatic victory propels him into the early championship lead as the series heads to his home circuit, Killarney International Raceway in Cape Town. With the advantage of local knowledge and unwavering resolve, Max will aim to extend his dominance as he pursues the 2025 national Mini ROK title.
Max extends his heartfelt gratitude to his incredible team and loyal supporters, whose unwavering encouragement has made all the difference.
