Luhan de Wet will kick off his second season in the Micro MAX class this weekend as he heads to Cape Town for the South African Rotax MAX Challenge and its opening round at the Killarney Kart Circuit. The talented young racer enters the event with a solid performance from the WPMC regional competition held in February, which served as vital preparation for this weekend’s national weekend.

While the conditions and competitors will differ slightly, Luhan’s approach to the weekend remains unchanged: focused and determined to perform best on the track. The former national Cadet Champion will aim for top results and is certainly one to watch as he competes out of the Xtreme Racing stable, where he will be considered a strong contender for the podium. Fifth in last season’s national Micro MAX championship, the Motorsport Fanatix™ ambassador will be determined to claim his maiden podium at the Cape circuit, having the best result of fourth in 2024.

“It’s always fun to race at Killarney. It’s more than just a race for me. Being in Cape Town is certainly a awesome experience and then to go racing just makes it even better. While I was a rookie last season, we didn’t have the greatest results but this weekend I am determined to set the record straight. I am hoping to build on our solid results from February when we raced in the Western Cape regional as preparation,” said Luhan.

The weekend will begin on Thursday with several practice sessions and continue through Friday, allowing Luhan to fine-tune his kart setup before qualifying late on Friday afternoon. Saturday, the on-track action will intensify with three 12-lap race heats. With his experience, consistency, and speed, Luhan is poised to make a strong impression at this prestigious event.

As always, the competition will be fierce, but Luhan’s focus on delivering a solid performance will be key as he looks to build on his successful 2024 season and make his mark on the national stage. Fans and fellow competitors alike will undoubtedly be watching the young racer as the action unfolds at Killarney.

Luhan is backed by De Wet Automotive Service & Repair Services.
