Finally a beautiful sunny day at Killarney International Raceway welcomed four Namibian drivers to round 6 of the Lime Property Management Power Series.

Twenty races covering ten categories of racing with an initial entry of 216 drivers / riders. A new category for the Western Cape and a parade lap for “The man who built Killarney” Denis Joubert.

Kaltron Formula Supercars 2×8 Laps
Slowly but surely this category is enjoying something of a revival with numbers and quality improving at each outing. Fine weather certainly assisting with ten cars starting the first heat.

Andrew Moffitt had a miserable day behind the wheel of the # 39 Supercar and it was #19 Ernest Page winning from #31 Kyle Hallick, #18 Shane Boscombe, #24 Nashrene Schloss, #3 Jurie Swart Snr and #36 Robin de Vos.

Kaltron Fine Cars 2×8 Laps
Günther Appelgryn spun himself out of contention in Hoals Hoek at the first attempt and though the #13 Appelgryn Trading BMW E36 325i recovered to win heat 2, his Index of Performance was destroyed and it was the ever consistent Roger Lewis in first place with the #1 MGA from Arnold Lambert in the #61 Ford Anglia and Marius Fourie in his #313 VW Jetta MkI. Jolinda Fourie fourth in her #131 VW Jetta with a somewhat frustrated Günther Appelgryn fifth.

Formula Libre 2×10 Laps
Formule Libre sort of failed itself on the day as Dee-Jay Booysen was left to dominate in the Dico #20 FVW Reynard from Richard Car #49 Rhema 2 FVee, Haydn Ellwood #75C Swift 92, Donovan Ramsay #95 Kerston Foods Sting FVee, Kelly Fletcher #22 Dolphin Engineering Forza Fvee and Ricky Anderson #96 Forza FVee.

Joshua Smit and the S&S Racing #83 FVee Rhema failed to complete a lap and given the amount of smoke emanating from his car Haydn Ellwood was fortunate to reach the finish.

MGA Racing Clubman, Classic, Breakfast Run MC 2×9 Laps
Hilton Redelinghuys scared himself enroute to overall victory on board his Classic SBK 88 Motorcycles #87 Kawasaki ZX7-R with Alistair Hyatt taking second after a long lay-off aboard his Clubman #22 Kawasaki ZX10R and in third spot it was greg Waddington aboard his #15 Yamaha R1. Chad Thompson the third Clubman racer home on his ST Construction #40 Suzuki GSXR600. Levarne Sobotker (#56 Yamaha YZF R6) fifth and Wayne Gress (Tony’s Motor Spares #95 Kawasaki ZX10R) sixth.
Shariff Reynolds second Classic SBK rider home on his neat #7 Ducati 996 and unfortunately Jamie Hall and the MGA Racing #65 Suzuki 750 SRAD did not have a good day. The sole Breakfast Run entry home was Francois Kritzinger aboard his #77 Suzuki GSXR750.

Juan Momberg survived a scary moment into Pertamina Fastron aboard his Motorwise #9 Suzuki GSXR750.

BATT Tech STC 650 – SSP 300 MC 2×9 Laps
Jamie Hall rode the MGA Racing #65 Kawasaki ER650 to victory but had a determined Braddon Hutchings in second place aboard his HSC Racing #74 Kawasaki ER650 and Reinhardt Burnett third aboard his Subsidium IT #54 Kawasaki ER650.

Lance Jonas fourth in class aboard his Samurai Racing #83 Yamaha MT07 and in fifth spot it was Zante Otto on her Missile Motorcycles #73 Kawasaki ER650. The top six completed by Abdul Essack on the HSC Racing #2 Suzuki SV650.

Zante Otto started both heats last on the grid having been found underweight and did well to recover to overall sixth for the day. Adrian Solomon really had the bit between his teeth to finish the day fourth overall on his SSP 300 machine.

The SSP 300 category had Adrian Solomon in determined frame of mind on the Pool King #4 Kawasaki Ninja 400 as he set off after the bigger 650cc machines, making their lives interesting to say the least. Abigail Bosson second on her Ateka #51 Yamaha YZF R3 and Raymond Alexander third on his Rayder Cycles #11 Kawasaki Ninja 400. Max Munton fourth on the SunScan #14 KTM 390 Duke and Mitch Robinson fifth on his Mag Workshop #71 Kawasaki Ninja 400.

Thermo Fires Clubman Saloons 2×8 Laps
Three visiting Namibian drivers joined the initial 29 car field for Heat 1 and the pace was pretty lively from the start with Steven Heydenrych leading Alex Johnson home from visiting Zachary Martin and MP Pretorius and Kai van Zyl and Steven Gouws running fifth and sixth. Two stalwart runners, Michael le Sueur and Shane du Toit running into a few gremlins.

Heat two was heading much the same way until the neat J&P Hydraulics #43 VW Polo 1.8 20v of Zachary Martin deposited a sump load of oil on the racing line through Damps Dip. With his car actually on fire due to hot oil on the exhaust Zachary vacated his seat only for the Polo to be collected by the Truckport Logistics #68 BMW of Gary Smith. Winded and somewhat bewildered Zachary escaped with a few keepsake bruises.

Damps Dip is somewhat blind in approach and requires a committed line to extract maximum performance from both car and driver and being early in the race the close proximity of the cars led to one of the biggest pile-ups in the history of the Clubman series. Thankfully nobody sustained serious injuries but unfortunately a number of cars was less fortunate. Probably easier to mention who survived the incident that mentioning those less fortunate.

Steven Gouws (Thermo Fires #34 B VW Jetta – Steven Gouws and Truckport Logistics #68C BMW – Gary Smith returning with hatchback versions of their cars. The race red flagged with a second, 5 lapper added to the program later in the day.
None of the Namibians able to complete the second race as Zachary Martin, MP Pretorius and Clive Strydom all succumbed to engine failures.

The combined heat two result had Steven Heydenrych leading Jaco Lambert, Willem Swart, Kai van Zyl, Gavin Cerff and Faizal Jacobs home.

Overall the somewhat depleted field had the Origen Oils #10 Nissan Skyline of Steven Heydenrych taking an easy victory from the Paint Chemistry #29 VW Polo of Jaco Lambert and the Unlimited Auto Angri 340F VW Polo of Kai van Zyl, the WFS Motors #222 VW Jetta of Willem Swart and the Spur #17C VW Golf MkI of Gavin Cerff fourth and fifth with Faizal Jacobs sixth overall in the Tracktion #144D BMW E46 M3.

Class A Steven Heydenrych, Alex Johnson.

Class B Jaco Lambert, Willem Swart.

Class C Gavin Cerff, Mia Bensch.

Class D Faizal Jacobs, Jemma Olen. Class

E David Vermaak, Ruan Gouws, Ley Fielding, Evert du Toit, Zahir Phillips.

Class X Arno Michels.

MP Pretorius
Windhoek, Namibia, based Matthys Petrus “MP” Pretorius made his Killarney International debut as driver of his neat Pretorius Racing 100 VW Polo in the Thermo Fires Clubman category.

Unbeknown to most was the fact that his grandfather was scheduled to be present in support. Jack Meyer was a motorsport legend in his own right as American V8 Saloon driver at Goodwood Showgrounds. As a Cape Helldriver the #79 Pep Stores 1957 Ford V8 was a regular feature at the popular oval track until 1974.

GrandPa Jack committed to come and support MP when he races at Killarney, but fate took him away on 1 August 2024 at the ripe age of 88 years. MP honouring Jack Meyer in the best way possible by racing his Polo in the presence of family and friends.

Laude Classic Cars 2×8 Laps
One of the highlights of the day was undoubtedly the expected showdown between the two Chevrolet Can Am drivers Franco Donadio and Rudolf de Vos and the “Little Chev” they were determined to beat one another as “break out” lap penalties did nothing to deter being first past the flag!

Franco Donadio came well prepared with a car that was handling superbly whilst Rudolf de Vos was found struggling for grip. Something that would see him spin under the City of Cape Town bridge. Very few cars have enough horsepower to drift through the main straight kink but the Gecko Lounge #24 Chev Can Am certainly had enough to do so every lap, but it proved too much.
Franco Donadio winning overall (penalties included) with the Donadio Plant Hire team taking first and second place overall. Franco first in the Donadio Plant Hire #32A Chev Can Am V8 and Wayne Nell second in the Donadio Plant Hire #2A Ford Escort MkI. PW Louw something of a surprise third in his neat Peter Stuyvesant Alan Moffat replica PWL Konsult #81B Mazda RX7 Rotary.

The ever consistent All Scale #73b Ford Capri 3.4 V6 of Trevor Momberg fourth, the Cross Cape Forklift Services #68B Ford Mustang Notchback V8 of Ferdi Mouton fifth and the rapid little Cape Eye Laser #441B Ford Escort MkI of Brian Evans sixth.
Michael Hitchcock had to retire his Cross Cape Forklift Services #67A Ford Mustang Notchback V8 with a stripped differential whilst the Cross Cape Forklift Services #66A Ford Granada Perana V8 of Glen Uytenbogaardt retired in smoke. The mighty #171B Chevrolet Corvette V8 finished the day in the Pertamina Fastron kitty litter.

Class A Franco Donadio

Class B PW Louw, Trevor Momberg, Ferdi Mouton, Brian Evans, Dave Alhadeff, Jarryd Evans.

Class C Layne Hutchings, Trevor Hutchings, Martin Bensch.

Class D Theo Claassen, Herman de Kock, Malcolm Pheiffer.

Class E Calvin Beekman, André Fourie.

Class X Wynand Nell, Bryon Bedien

Precision Engineering BMW CCCT Race Series 2×9 Laps
A new formula with a predictable winner as Nian du Toit simply cleaned up in the meanest sounding turbo Beemer. The good news however that finally those monster class A Clubman BMW entries have now got an opportunity to truly showcase their potential as all the constraints are removed – except they have to find a way to keep up with Nian du Toit in the Coastal Engineering Supplies #20A BMW E36 Turbo 328.

Marco Retter a distant second in his neat Progress Precision Engineering #250A BMW E46 Turbo 328i and in third spot it was visiting Namibian, Mark Sternagel, in his Sternbau Transport #69F BMW E36 M3 Turbo. Having the bonnet fly open on the warm-up alp did not help his efforts and neither did the collapsing rear wing.

Oliver Hintenaus fourth in his Coastal Engineering Supplies #76C BMW E46 M3 with Anwar Levy fifth in the Jive #45C BMW M3 Turbo and the top six completed by Mansoor Parker in his Jive #36C BMW M3 Turbo.

Class A Nian du Toit, Marco Retter, Mark Sternagel.

Class C Oliver Hintenaus, Anwar Levy, Mansoor Parker, Daanyaal Coetzee.

Class D Dexter Bruce, Faizal Jacobs, Martin Bensch.

Class E Ernest Page.

Class F Ebrahim Levy, Arno Michels, Bradley Sickle, Jacques Prins, Jacques du Toit, André Voorn

Sealpro Winelands Superbikes, SBK Challenge, Masters, 600 MC 2×8 Laps
Kewyn Snyman took an easy overall victory aboard the Miisile Motorcycles #19 SBK Honda CBR1000, assisted by his main rivals running into problems. Slade van Niekerk second aboard his Project 60 SA #111 Kawasaki ZX10R, struggling with a malfunctioning rear shockabsorber. Jason Linaker third aboard a borrowed #92 machine tells the story of his own Missile Motorcycles #93 Honda CBR1000 and in fourth it was a somewhat peeved Tristin Pienaar who opted for a visit to the daisies in Castrol corner before storming back on his #50 BMW 1000RR.

Wayne Arendse sat up a few times before claiming the SBK Challenge on his #33 Kawasaki ZX10R with Daniel Frost second on his CHW Design #28 Honda CBR 1000.

Mike Hunter taking the 600cc class on his LLG Properties #37 Kawasaki ZX6R with Keana Strode second on his Strode Racing #70 Kawasaki ZX6R. Samkelo Liwani third on the #49 Yamaha YZF R6.

API property GTi Challenge 2×8 Laps
Jurie Swart simply drilled everyone to overall victory in his Alpine Autohaus #39 VW Polo 6R with Schalk Geldenhuys second in his G&A Motorsport #10A VW Polo 6R. Marco Busi third in his Simtech #41A VW Polo 6R with Dillon Joubert fourth in the TAC Steel #44A VW Polo 6R. Shane Williams moved into class A and finished fifth overall in his Printcrowd #46A VW Polo 6R. The top six completed by Jeandré Marais in the Summit Racing #95A VW Polo 6R.

Mohammed T Khalfey won class B by just 0.244sec in his Mad Performance #14B VW Polo 6 with Faizal Jacobs second in his Century Karting #40 VW Polo 6 and Ryan van Eden third in the RVE Digital Marketing #28B VW Polo 6. Nur Abass fourth in his Spice Mecca #8 VW polo 6, Brent van der Schyff fifth in the Magmaster #69B VW Polo Classic and the top six completed by Shaun Liebenberg in his #75 VW Polo 6.

Class C saw Dylan van Eden take a comfortable victory in the Century Karting #55C VW Golf MkI 1.8. The similar cars of Daniel Munna #33 API Property Group, Tristan Joubert #90 Powder Coating World, Reza Levy #45 Jive, Adriano Ferroli #4 Ferroli Performance Centre and Zac Laden #64 Angri making up the top six.

Le Joubert Sports & GT Cars 2×10 Laps
Dawie Joubert and the Wild Rose Gin #18A Lotari 3.9 proved faultless enroute to overall victory. In the absence of Steve Humble and Craig Jarvis his opposition arrived in the form of the second, Advanced Packaging Technology #43 Ginetta G57, in the capable hands of Gary Kieswetter. Second on debut the prospect of having both on track certainly will be interesting.

The incredibly quick Fulloutput #93A Lotus-Toyota 7 of Clinton Thorne finished third with the Racing Spirit #42B BMW M3 of Connor Kilbride fourth, André Brink fifth in his SSB Transport #48 Porsche 991 GT3 Cup and in sixth spot it was Maarten Prins in his Motul #72B Porsche GT3 Cup.

Class S Dawie Joubert, Gary Kieswetter.

Class A Clinton Thorne.

Class B Connor Kilbride, André Brink, Maarten Prins, Sandro Biccari.
