Mokoena back to Germany for second half of GT Masters
South African Endurance champion Kwanda Mokoena returns to Germany for the second half of the ADAC GT Masters championship at the Sachsenring over the 9 and 10 September weekend. Mokoena, who impressed alongside co-driver and fellow rookie Dylan Yip in the first half of the season, cannot wait to get back behind the wheel of his Liqui Moly Team Engstler Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II this weekend.
“It’s been a hell of a long break since the last race and to be honest I simply cannot wait to be flat out in my Liqui Moly Team Engstler Audi R8 again,” Kyalami Kid Kwanda confirmed as he packed his bags for the trip to Hohenstein-Ernstthal near Chemnitz in Germany. “It’s been a bit of a baptism of fire, but Dylan and I have a great team behind us and we are improving quite literally by the lap.
“The Sachsenring that has roots as deep as 1937, is a far more conventional circuit again after the challenges and confines of the tiny Norisring street circuit and more like Nürburgring where we had a good run last time out. So I’m looking forward to getting the best out of the downforce and grip that our Audi generates on those undulating fast curves you may know from watching the German Moto GP.
“I also cannot wait to re-join my racing family Team Engstler in Germany, and once again thank everyone who has made this incredible dream come true. From my parents, to sponsors, supporters, and fans, to everyone else who has had a hand in my racing career over the last fifteen years, you guys rock!”
