A hot/cool summer day at Killarney International Raceway saw the seventh round of the Lime Property Management Power Series run almost without incident. Two hundred and fifty-two entries contested twenty heats of close racing.

MGA Racing Clubman, Classic and Breakfast Run Motorcycles 2×9 Laps
Hilton Redelinghuys led the twenty two strong entry home aboard his Classic 888 Motorcycles 87 Kawasaki ZX7-R with Chad Thompson second on his Clubman ST Construction 40 Suzuki GSXR 600. Third place going to a very impressive David Goosen aboard his Missile Motorcycles 21 Yamaha R6 with Willem Binedell fourth on his Melkbos Motor Spares 25 Triumph Daytona 675. Wessel Kruger struggled to keep the front wheel of his Classic, and very nostalgic, Calberg Hydraulics 163 Suzuki Slingshot 750 on the ground but managed fifth spot in the opening heat with Greg Waddington sixth aboard his Ready to Race 15 KTM RC8C.
David Goosen surprised by pipping Hilton Geldenhuys to the flag in heat two by 0.148 seconds and he also claimed the fastest lap of the day. Willem Binedell third, Wessel Kruger fourth, Willem Louw fifth and Levarne Sobotker sixth. Sadly Jamie Hall had a very smoky end to his day when the engine expired on his Classic MGA Racing 65 Suzuki SRAD 750.

Overall the order in the Classic category was Hilton Redelinghuys (87 Kawasaki ZX7R), Wessel Kruger (Calberg Hydraulics 163 Suzuki Slingshot 750), John Kosterman (81 Suzuki GSXR 1100) and Mario Ferreira (Willie’s Service Centre 44 BMW R1100S). Breakfast Run saw David Goosen (21 Yamaha R6) leading home Dean Gabriels (ABC International Real Estate 88 Yamaha R6), Francois Kritzinger (77 Suzuki GSXR 750) and Enrique Petersen (18 Suzuki GSXR 750). Clubmans had Willem Binedell (Melkbos Motor Spares 25 Triumph Daytona 675) leading Laverne Sobotker (56 Yamaha YZF R6) home from Greg Waddington (15 KTM RC8C), Wayne Gresse (Tony’s Motor Spares 95 Kawasaki ZX10R), Willem Louw (86 Kawasaki ZX6R) and Nkulukelo Majola (Wolfpack Racing 2 Yamaha R1).

BeJo Trustees Formula Libre 2×10 Laps
Contact between Haydn Ellwood and Kelly Fletcher spoiled the racing in the first heat with Dee-Jay Booysen winning easily in the Dico 20S Formula VW Reynard from Byron Mitchell (Dolphin Engineering 21V Forza FV), Joshua Smit (S&S Racing 83 Rhema FV), Benjack Phillips (Classic Car Care 17 Lantis FV), Donovan Ramsay (Kerston Foods 95 Sting FV) and in sixth spot it was Cyril Somerville (Liqui Moly 61 Rhema FV).

Haydn Ellwood (Wild Art Printing 76 Swift SF92 FF) dropping to eighth and Kelly Fletcher (Dolphin Engineering 22 Forza FV) to tenth with modified wheel alignment. It was however great to see BeJo Trustees return as category sponsor. Heat two produced much the same result with Booysen heading Mitchell, Smit, Phillips, Somerville and Ramsay. Overall Ramsay finished ahead of Somerville.

BATT Tech STC 650 and SSP 300 Motorcycles 2×9 Laps
Braddon Hutchings (HSC Racing 74 Kawasaki ER650) impressed by beating Paul Medell (Trac Mac 5 Kawasaki ER6N) to the flag by 0.703 seconds with Reinhardt Burnett (Subsidium IT 54 Kawasaki ER650) in third spot. Adrian Solomon a great fourth aboard his Pool King 4 Kawasaki Ninja 400 followed by Lance Jonas (Samurai Racing 83 Yamaha MT07) and Abigail Bosson (Ateka 51 Yamaha YZF R3).

Hutchings repeats his feat in heat two, but this time by only 0.005 seconds with Burnett third, Solomon fourth, Jonas fifth and Max Munton (SunScan Solar 14 KTM Duke 390) sixth past the flag of André Grewe.

Overall the order in the STC 650 category was Braddon Hutchings (HSC Racing 74 Kawasaki ER650) from Paul Medell (Trac Mac 5 Kawasaki ER6N) and Reinhardt Burnett (Subsidium IT 54 Kawasaki ER650). Fourth to sixth in class claimed by Lance Jonas (Samurai Racing 83 Yamaha MT07), Abdul Essack ( HSC Racing 2 Suzuki SV650) and Peter Hill (Hillbilly Racing 6 Suzuki SV650).
The SSP 300 order had Adrian Solomon (Pool King 4 Kawasaki Ninja 400) winning from Max Munton (SunScan Solar 14 KTM Duke 390), Abigail Bosson (Ateka Yamaha YZF R3), Raymond Alexander (Rayder Cycles 11 Kawasaki Ninja 400), Mitch Robinson (Mag Workshop 71 Kawasaki Ninja 400) and Dean Gabriels (ABC International real Estate 88 Kawasaki ZX300).

Pirelli V8 Masters and Kaltron Supercars 2×8 Laps
Finally the V8 Masters category ran without incidents and Fabio Tafani (1 Club Refrigeration APV347is) claimed overall honours with comparative ease from Sean Moore (73 Ziegler Logistics APV347is) and Mark Ridgway (53 GetWorth APV347is). Gary Thomson (17 APV347is) fourth, Brandon Dean (7 APV347is) fifth and Stuart Spooner (55 APV347is) sixth.

Low on numbers and names they at least proved they can race each other again.

Andrew Moffitt (39 Opel Supercar) suffered an off out of Pertamina Fastron whilst leading and it was Ernest Page (Mischief Garage 19 Opel Supercar) that took overall victory from Kyle Hallick (RBK Products 31 Opel Supercar), Robin de Vos (Lime Property Management 36 Opel Supercar), Nashrene Schloss (Lime Property Management 34 Opel Supercar), Brad Fenner (Planet Automation 9 Opel Supercar) and Glen Phillips (33 Opel Supercar)

Also low on numbers and names but showing positive signs of improvement with each outing.

Le Joubert Sports & GT Cars 2×10 laps
An impressive entry of thirty cars set the scene for some fast action on track but Dawie Joubert was taking no prisoners on the day and the Ferrari 448 powered Wild Rose Gin 18S Lotus Lotari looked and sounded awesome on track, getting down to a 1min07.837 lap averaging 173.374km/h.

Behind Dawie the two Ginetta G57 LMP2 cars of Craig Jarvis and Gary Kieswetter ran close until Gary spun out in Hoals Hoek. Jarvis and Kieswetter trading second place in the two heats but it was the “Kids” version in second overall and the Advanced Packaging Technology version in third.

Good to see the Hyabusa powered Spitfire Office Furniture 36S Radical SL8 of Josh Broome back and fourth spot in heat one was encouraging after a long layoff. Sadly he did not start Heat 2.

The incredible Fulloutput 93A Lotus 7 of Clinton Thorne home in fourth overall with Niyaaz Modack fifth in the brutish M.I.M. Auto 47X Porsche 911 GT2R and André Brink sixth in his SSB Transport 48B Porsche 991 GT3 Cup.

Mike Verrier second in class B with his NDT Racing 4B BMW Z4M GT and in third it was Connor Kilbride in his neat Racing Spirit 42B BMW M3. Martin Pugh fourth in the Appleberry Farms 21B Shelbey Can-Am and in fifth it was the ATM Chiptuning 86B BMW M4 GT4 of Renzo Torrente.

Tristan de Nobrega took class C in his Racing Spirit 70C BMW E46 M3 with Andrew Honeywell second in the almost standard looking 196C Porsche 911 Cup. Gavin Norman third in his 16C VW Nardini Sports and Eric Salomon fourth in the 23C Elf S 06. Simeon Penev fifth in his 77C Nissan 350Z.

Devin Pillay claimed class D in his ex-Kieswetter LCLK 84D Porsche 911 Cup with Ray Farnham a feisty second in his 9D Opel Birkin 7 and the little 26D Ginetta G4 of Josh Davey a mighty third. Steve Humble somewhat out of the norm in fourth with a neat 151D Porsche 944 and in fifth spot it was Vance Kearney sixth in his 17D Nash MVW3. Gavin Erasmus sixth in his SDS 41D Nissan 350Z.

Thermo Fires Clubman Saloons 2×8 Laps
No surprises at the front of the field as the Origen Oils 10A Nissan Skyline R32 of Steven Heydenrych simply cruised to another victory with Sahen Smith having to fight his way into second overall with the Truckport Logistics 22X BMW E36 M3. Kai van Zyl and Jaco Lambert had an entertaining dual on track with their respective VW Polo cars and though Jaco initially held the upper hand in the Lambert racing 29B VW Polo it was the Unlimited Auto Agri 340B VW Polo of Kai van Zyl that claimed third.
The fastest Farmtruck had to settle for fourth and it was obvious that Clint Rennard was nursing a problem on the fifth placed G&A Motorsport 3A VW Golf MkII. The top six completed by Gary Smith in the Truckport Logistics 71X BMW M3.

Yusuf Hendricks third in class A with his neatly prepared MYH Auto 61C BMW E36 Turbo. Willem Swart doing the same in class B with his WFS Motors 222B VW Jettaand in fourth spot it was Baby Jacobs in the Executive Decisions 42B BMW M3.

Faizal Jacobs won class C in his Century Karting 144C BMW E46 M3 with Dexter Bruce second in his MYH Auto 143C BMW E36 and Mia Bensch third in her Virtual 5 110C BMW. Jemma Olen claimed class D in the Bridgestone 36D BMW E36 328i with John da Silva second in his E21 Group 142C VW Golf MkI and in third it was Anton Jacobs in the All Scale 39D Nissan Sentra Sti.
David Vermaak took top spot in class E with his 27D BMW E36 3.0 and he was followed home by Evert van Niekerk in the New Engineering 651D Ford Falcon. Ruan Gouws third in the Auto Possible 9D VW Golf MkI and in fourth spot it was Ley Fielding in his 67D BMW E36 325i.

Azhar Davids winning class F in his Collage of Cape Town 303F VW Jetta 1.8 with Jacques du Toit second in his 13F BMW E36 328i and Adam Omar third in the F&S Transport 24F VW Golf MkI.

Laude Classic Cars 2×9 Laps
Class A disappeared other than the Cross Cape Forklift Services 66A Ford Granada Perana V8 of Glen Uytenbogaardt, but it was the day of the Capri as Jarryd Evans and Trevor Momberg hunted down the wounded Granada relentlessly. Ferdi Mouton defended Mustang honours in the red Cross Cape Forklift Services 68B Mustang Notchback V8 but the there was no stopping the wild dog Capri duo.

Jarryd Evans taking overall victory in his Cape Eye Laser 414B Ford Capri 3.4 with Ferdi Mouton second in the red Mustang V8 and Trevor Momberg third in his All Scale 73B Ford Capri 3.4 and in fourth it was the wounded Granada of Glen Uytenbogaardt who finished in a smoke screen. Brian Evans staying close enough in fifth spot with his Cape Eye Laser 441B Ford Escort MkI to pounce if anyone slipped and in sixth it was Bruce Avern-Taplin in the deceptively quick 77B Toyota Corolla Sprinter.

One of the best tussles of the day was between the Garage 86C Toyota Conquest RSi of Deon Conradie and the HSC Racing 74C VW Golf MkII GTi of Layne Hutchings. Close your eyes and it was Serge Damseaux and Terry Moss going at each other – without the traditional banging of panels. A very entertaining dual that could have gone either way. This time it was Deon Conradie who won. Robert Rowe third in his Veldt reared 11C BMW E30.

Class D had another great tussle between the 59D Ford Escort MkI of Herman de Kock and the Yesterday’s Heroes 55D Nissan Skyline GTX 2.8 of Theo Claassen. Once again there was nothing to choose between the two and it was Herman who made it home first. Calvin Beekman owned class E in the rapid Rob Tissington 42E Morris 1294cc.

Kaltron Fine Cars 2×9 Laps
For once the Kaltron Fine Cars enjoyed good support in numbers and being paired with the Laude Classic Cars seemed to get the Fines motivated to have a proper race. Based on Index of Performance actual track positions are misleading but hopefully this positive resurgence will continue going forward.

Arnold Lambert taking the day on Index of Performance in his Paint Chemistry 61 Ford Anglia with Günther Appelgryn second in the all green Appelgryn Trading 13 BMW E36 325i and Albert Cook third in the Enviro 40 BMW E36 328i. Di Dugmore fourth in the neat PiriPiri Racing 80 Austin Healey 3000 and in fifth it was Natsahs Tischendorf in her 285 VW Jetta Cli. Melani Lambert sixth in her Lambert Racing 90 VW Jetta Cli.

Progress Precision Engineering BMW CCT 2×8 Laps
Marco Retter controlled the races from the front in his Progress Precision Engineering 50A BMW E46 Turbo with Anwar Levy claiming second overall in his Jive 45C BMW E46 M3 Turbo. The top two classes very poorly supported on the day.

Baby Jacobs an excellent third overall in his Executive Decisions 42D BMW M3 with Dexter Bruce fourth in his MYH Auto 146D BMW E36 M3. Dexter doing well to catch a lurid slide out of Pertamina Fastron. Ebrahim Levy fifth overall in his Jive 51D BMW E30 Turbo and the top six completed by Connor Kilbride in his Racing Spirit 42E BMW E36 328i.

James King claimed class F in his Kings Auto Body Shop 7F BMW E46 and he was followed home by Bradley Sickle in his 23F BMW E36 and Hermanus Huysamen in the Clikit Media 501F BMW E36. Dean du Toit home fourth in his 13F BMW E36, Kobus de Kock fifth in the 77F BMW E36 and in sixth it was Rory Moore in his Moore Racing 777F BMW E46.

On points it was Baby Jacobs (Class D) and James King (Class F) who shared the top spot on 20 points for the day.

Sealpro Winelands SBK, SBK Challenge, Masters. 600cc 2×9 Laps
Kewyn Snyman might have dominated the day but the chasing duo of Tristin Pienaar and Slade van Niekerk is what makes this category spectacular as the sheer pace and determination of these three never ceases to impress on track.

Kewyn Snyman overall victor aboard the Missile Motorcycles 19 Honda CBR1000 with Tristin Pienaar second on his 50 BMW S1000RR and Slade van Niekerk third on the Project Sixty SA 111 Kawasaki ZX10R. Malcolm Rapson returned in fourth as the top Master aboard his Racebase 46 Suzuki GSXR1000. Jason Linaker, aboard a ASAP World 93 Yamaha R, fifth with top 600cc Mike Hunter sixth on his LLG Properties 37 Kawasaki ZX6R.

The SBK Challenge going to Wayne Arendse on his 33 Kawasaki ZX10R with Sarel Haasbroek second on the 79 Yamaha YZF R1 and in third spot it was Jamie Hall on his MGA Racing 65 Kawasaki ZX10R. Greg Waddington fourth on his 15 Yamaha YZF R1.

API Property Group GTI Challenge 2×8 Laps
With 38 entries there was ample reason to believe that this was going to see many an incident before the results would be published but to the credit of all the drivers it proved to be clean, hard and tight racing.

In fact, class B was possibly the tightest contest ever with eight cars covered by a blanket for most of the racing laps. Almost felt the frustration of the mid pack drivers as there simply was no space to maneuvre.

Nathan Victor won heat one whilst Jurie Swart snuck by to win the second but overall it was a deserved victory for the Summit Racing 71A VW Polo 6R driver with the Alpine Autohaus 39A VW Polo 6R second. Marco Busi third in his Simtech 41A VW Polo 6R. Dillon Joubert (TAC Steel 44A) fourth, Ian Kapp (Hydracor Hydraulics 65A) and Schalk Geldenhuys (G&A Motorsport 10A) completed the top six.

Class B was tighter than ever before and it was relieved Mohammed T Khalfey (MAD Performance 14B) who claimed top spot from Ryan van Eden (RVE Digital Marketing 28B) and Faizal Jacobs (Century Karting 40B). Raaziegh Harris (Cool Touch 19B) late braked himself into fourth with Nur Abass (Spice Mecca 8B) fifth and Daniel Sandenbergh (Eikestad Panelbeaters 77B) sixth.

Mark Fontini taking most dominant class win in class C with his Goch & Cooper 31C VW Golf MkI whilst Dylan van Eden had to work hard to finish second in his Century Karting 55C Golf. Zac Laden third in his Angri Racing 64C Golf with Adriano Ferroli (Ferroli Performance Centre 4C) fourth, Ross Schroder (API Property 16C) fifth and Daniel Munna (API Property 33C) sixth. Sixteen class C entries made this a very busy category.

Summary
Some brilliant individual dices with class B of the GTi Challenge almost proving impossibly tight. Weather was fair with warm challenged by cool spells and gusting wind which much have made life difficult for the bikers. Encouraging numbers with many familiar names not present on the day.

See you 16 November 2024 for the final round of the 2024 Lime Property Management Power Series at Killarney International Raceway.
