Following nearly 12 months, Carlo Gil is set to return to the DD2 Masters field this coming weekend (15 April) as Round 3 of the MSA Northern Regions Rotax Karting Championship heads back to Formula-K Kart Circuit, Benoni.
Work commitments brought on Gil’s absence from the roster, but the Johannesburg driver is eager to return to competition. Before his extended break, he established himself as a regular top-three contender in the class. His last outing was at the second national championship round in 2022 at the Killarney Kart Circuit.
“It has certainly been a long break for me, and I am eager to return to the grid,” says Gil. “Work commitments have seen me unable to compete, and I have had little seat time since. Hopefully, I’m not too rusty and can get back up to pace quickly. Of course, having been away for some time, I won’t venture into any predictions, but I’m excited to mark my return with a good result.”
A Warm-Up Session followed by Qualifying precede three race heats before the winner for the round is declared. Spectator entry will be free of charge.
