Jean Prieur du Plessis, husband to Adele, father to Danielle (13), Prieur (9) and Naudé (6) retired to the final Parc Fermé on Thursday 13 January 2024.
The Du Plessis brothers need no introduction in Western Cape Rallying, where they have proven themselves to be extremely quick and spectacular. Each drove their own GTi Club entries initially and then a combined effort to go rallying in a Toyota Corolla 2.0 proved, beyond any doubt, that neither would succeed as navigators.
They then grew into their respective E30 BMW rally cars with impressive results showing that both had the talent to succeed in the sport. Jean progressed to an BMW E36, only to have that car destroyed by fire on a Grabouw stage on debut during a national rally and both stepped back whilst concentrating on business.
Never far removed from the sport Jean collected a number of very neat classic cars whilst Inus returned to rallying in a well sorted BMW E36, finishing the 2023 season as the class champion with Piet Carinus as navigator.
The family lost their Father, Jannie, three years ago on 15 June 2021. Mom Elsa is supported by Marette (daughter), Jean (son) and Inus (son).
Inus have now decided to withdraw from Rallying for the balance of 2024 to support his family through this difficult period.
Thank you for the memories!
