This weekend, all eyes will be on the Eastern Cape’s rising karting star, Jack Moore, as he begins his campaign to defend his National OK-Junior title at the 2025 ROK Cup Kart Championship’s opening round at Red Star Raceway. At just 12 years old, Jack is already a seasoned contender with an impressive record that includes four national titles—two Kid ROK championships, a Mini ROK U/10 title, and an OK-Junior title he claimed in 2024 as a rookie.
Jack’s karting achievements have already earned him international recognition, as he represented South Africa at the 2024 FIA Games in Spain and raced in the prestigious ROK Superfinal in Italy. With the experience of these global events behind him, the Gqeberha resident is determined to secure a fifth national title this year.
Jack is known for his thrill-seeking nature and isn’t just a karting champion—he also loves water sports, from kite-surfing and wind-surfing to canoeing and mountain biking. Yet, when it comes to karting, Jack’s focus is razor-sharp, and he’s ready to take on the competition with the backing of Fleet Dynamics Group and Puma South Africa, along with the expert guidance of Leeroy Poulter and the Xtreme Racing Team.
Jack, who turns 13 next month, will also be heading abroad to compete in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy, becoming one of only a few South Africans to compete at an event that Formula One driver Charles Leclerc won in 2011.
As the 2025 season begins, Jack’s eyes are firmly set on starting strong in his bid for another national title. A solid performance this weekend will be crucial as he sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting season ahead. It all gets underway on Friday, with official practice before a full race programme on Saturday.
