The 2025 Astron Energy Polo Cup roared into action at the Killarney International Raceway, one of only two circuits to host two rounds of the prestigious championship. For Tyler Robinson, the opening round was an opportunity to turn her fortunes around after a string of unlucky results in previous visits to the Cape circuit, and she did just that with a determined performance that earned her fourth place overall for the weekend.

Heading into the first race weekend of the season, the former FIA Girls on Track Rising Stars finalist quickly signalled her intentions. Tyler was among the frontrunners during Friday’s practice sessions, showcasing speed and consistency. She carried that momentum into the late afternoon’s all-important qualifying session, where she made history by becoming only the second female driver in Polo Cup history to top the time sheets. The only other woman to achieve the feat? Her mentor and current driving coach, Tasmin Pepper.

“The level of competition in the Astron Energy Polo Cup is incredibly high, so to top the qualifying session was an unbelievable feeling,” Tyler reflected. “I’m proud of how we started the season, and it shows that all the hard work during the off-season is paying off.”

The adrenaline carried through to the SuperPole Shootout for the top six qualifiers. Despite the pressure, Tyler secured fourth place, earning herself a valuable second-row start for the opening race on Saturday.
When the lights went out, the Polo Cup action delivered its trademark wheel-to-wheel battles. Tyler initially lost several positions in the fierce opening-lap skirmishes but remained in the hunt. With calculated moves and relentless pace, she regained two spots to finish Race 1 in fourth. A near-identical performance followed in Race 2, with a sixth-place finish after a clean and composed drive. Tyler earned her best weekend result in the third and final race. She demonstrated patience and racecraft and secured a well-deserved third-place podium finish to round out a consistent and impressive opening round.

“I couldn’t be happier with our start to the season,” Tyler said. “Topping qualifying was a huge confidence boost, and to finish the weekend with a podium is even better. With Tasmin guiding me, I know there’s so much more to come, and I’m motivated to keep this momentum going into the next round at Kyalami. A huge thank you to the team for all the support and hard work. I couldn’t do it without them!” she added.

The next chapter of the 2025 Astron Energy Polo Cup unfolds at the iconic Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit from 10 to 12 April, where Tyler will aim to build on her strong start and continue her charge toward championship glory.
