The penultimate round of the GTC SupaCup is set for an exhilarating return to the Killarney International Raceway this weekend, home to GTC SupaCup rookie Tate Bishop.
Bishop, a multiple national karting champion and a product of the 2022 CompCare Polo Cup, is currently ranked fifth in the championship, where he trails Arnold Neveling by 13 points with two rounds remaining. While Bishop knows the circuit well, having competed there on the national and regional scene, he endured a challenging first Killarney outing in March, finishing fifth and seventh, respectively. Since then, the ANGRi Racing driver has employed the services of Lee Thompson Racing and expects an improved performance in front of his home fans.
“I’m expecting some of the most exciting racing yet this weekend. Many drivers enjoy racing in Cape Town, and the contest is always close. As is always the case in SupaCup, every driver will be looking to be the fastest in qualifying as the grid often determines the race outcome. I am confident we can clinch our maiden pole position on Saturday morning and record our first win of the season. With a total of 43 points up for grabs, I need to make up some ground in the championship.”
Three practice sessions are scheduled for Friday, with Qualifying set for Saturday morning (09:25). A ten-lap race will follow at 11:50 after which a 12-lap race is scheduled for 14:50. The entire event will be live-streamed on race day and available on the Extreme Festival YouTube channel.
