This weekend sees the return of Brandon van der Walt as Zwartkops Kart Raceway hosts the opening round of the MSA Northern Regions Regional Rotax Karting Championship.
Van der Walt retains his rookie status as he steps up to take on the Senior MAX field this season after an impressive 2022 debut in the Junior MAX class. Racing out of the Ice Motorsport stable again this season, the Pretoria resident continues under the mentorship of Delon Thompson, with whom Van der Walt achieved some solid results.
“I’m just so grateful to be back racing again. The break was too long, and I can’t wait to get back on the circuit. Happy to be doing it all again with Delon’s assistance and looking forward to the challenge of Senior MAX. Hopefully, the experienced gained during last year will stand me in good stead as I fight for the podium,” said Van der Walt.
A warm-up followed by a qualifying session will start the day’s proceedings ahead of three race heats to determine the day’s overall winner. Entrance is free, and spectators are welcome.
