KC Ensor-Smith’s impressive season didn’t end as he had hoped. The Witbank teenager finished fourth overall in the final round of the Investchem Formula 1600 Championship. As a result, he finishes his second season in the championship as the Vice Champion, earning himself a cool R100 000.

Heading into the weekend, KC had a mathematical chance of claiming his first circuit championship but would need several results to go his way. Despite his best efforts, he fell short and finished as the runner-up in the final Investchem Formula 1600 race, with the series being replaced by the MSA4 category in 2025.

“It’s a bittersweet end to my season,” said KC. “We got the car to work well in the mid-season and moved up the standings leading into the penultimate round. Then we ran into a few niggles. But without making any excuses, Jagger was better in the final rounds, and we had all the work to do, hoping for some luck. Congrats to Jagger on winning and thank you to my team, my sponsors and my family for the support throughout. I appreciate it very much.”

KC extends his thanks to African Heating, Vitro Frameless, Master Stair, Motorsport Fanatix and Sparco.
