Luhan de Wet continued his strong form at the second MSA Northern Regions Rotax championship round this weekend, taking the overall winner’s trophy following two heat victories and a runner-up position at the Formula-K Kart Circuit, Benoni.
After claiming the morning’s pole position, De Wet took the first two heat wins ahead of Adriaan Steyn, with whom he is set to battle for the entire season. Steyn, however, edged out De Wet by less than two-tenths of a second in the final heat. After combining the points, De Wet was declared the Round 2 winner and extended his lead over Steyn in the championship.
“We’re very happy with the result today,” said Sharl De Wet, Luhan’s father. “We’ve been working hard to improve, and the results are there. We’ll be looking to take this form into our next national in a few week’s time. Thank you to everyone for the support.”
De Wet thanks De Wet Automotive Performance Service and Repairs, Duratec Batteries Centurion, Alunite Pretoria and NBR Racing Team. De Wet will be back on the circuit on 24-25 March for Round 1 of the MSA National Kart Championship set to be held at Celso Scribante Kart Circuit, Gqeberha, in the Eastern Cape.
