Seven-year-old Alanzo Dias will make only his second national appearance this weekend as the MSA ROK Cup National Karting Championship season concludes with its final round at the Vereeniging Kart Circuit in Gauteng.
In only his second season of competitive karting and his first in the Kid ROK class, the young Linksfield resident is looking to claim his maiden national podium this weekend, having finished a best of fifth on national debut. While not in the national championship running, the Grade 2 pupil of Portuguese descent has been in good regional form, where he lies fourth in the championship and boasts a best finish of second.
During his last appearance at the same circuit, he managed a podium (third) in the final heat. The team (Xtreme Racing Team) are, however, confident that he can perform well this weekend following some solid preparation ahead of the weekend’s national.
Friday will see a full day of practice with six 10-minute sessions spread throughout the day. Saturday morning’s Qualifying (09:20) precedes four race heats (10:40, 12:00, 13:50 and 15:10) before an overall round winner is declared.
