Luhan De Wet continued his unbeaten run in the regional karting competition with three successive victories yesterday. De Wet, who leads the current Northern Regions Karting Cadet Championship, extended his lead with two rounds remaining.
The seven-year-old Louis Leipodlt Primary student qualified in the pole position with a sub-sixty-second lap, the only driver to do so. After three solid starts, the Centurion resident recorded three easy wins on the day to secure another round victory.
“As we entered the weekend, we knew there would be little pressure to perform due to the small number of participants. Nonetheless, I focused solely on recording good laps to prepare for the upcoming nationals. We succeeded in that, and I must extend my thanks to De Wet Automotive Performance Service & Repairs, Duratec Batteries Centurion, Alunite Pretoria and the NBR Racing Team.”
De Wet will return next weekend for the fifth round of the Northern Regions Rotax Kart Championship at Zwartkops Kart Raceway.
