The first karting national of the season sees Bambino pilot Luhan De Wet take on the iDube Raceway as the KZN Kart Club hosts the MSA South African Rotax MAX Challenge Championship on 3-4 March, 2023.
De Wet, who competed as a rookie in 2022, is determined to head back to Gauteng with the winner’s trophy. At age six, he is one of the youngest in the field and finished fourth at last year’s national round held at Idube Raceway. He was the top-placed rookie and will be set on improving on his best national result at the circuit of fourth.
“I am looking forward to the weekend and racing at iDube. It’s a challenging circuit where momentum is crucial as we don’t have much power for the hilly nature of the circuit. We’ve prepared as well as we could have, and it will now come down to me to get the results. I plan to be the national champion this year, so getting a good result will be important,” said Luhan de Wet.
De Wet Automotive Performance Service and Repairs Centre, Duratec Batteries Centurion and Alunite Pretoria back Luhan for his 2023 season. The weekend’s race program will see several warm-up sessions on Friday, followed by qualifying and three race heats on Saturday. Entry is free, and spectators are welcome.
