For Darryn Binder, the start to the final race weekend of the 2024 season was characterised by hard work. The South African was already struggling to keep up with the times at the front on Friday and was unable to finish higher than 27th. It was not until the second practice session on Saturday morning that the 26-year-old recorded a significant improvement. Nevertheless, Darryn was unable to avoid Q1, and despite a small gap of just 0.403s to the fastest rider, it was not enough to finish in the top four, which ultimately meant 22nd place on the grid in row eight for the race.

“We took steps this afternoon that we should have taken yesterday afternoon. So, we had a lot of work to do to get through today. In the end, we did an acceptable job in Q2 and I’m happy to start a bit further forward than in the last few races, which definitely makes my life a bit easier. Our pace for the race is okay, although we certainly need to find something for tomorrow so that we can attack. But I’m definitely happy with the progress we made today.”
