The MSA ROK Cup National Karting Championship brings down the curtain on a competitive Kid ROK season this weekend with an exciting finale at the Vereeniging Kart Circuit in Gauteng.
Having competed at the same circuit two weeks earlier at the regional level, it served as the perfect preparation for the return of the 2022 national Bambino champion. Currently ranked third in the national standings, Sparco brand ambassador Cronje is 13 points adrift of second place and will need four victories and a little luck should he want to challenge for the title.
According to Cronje, this weekend’s competition is expected to be intense. Although he admits that he hasn’t been as fast as the two main contenders, he has been steadily improving and is working hard with his team to reduce the gap. Even though this is his rookie season, and it’s mostly seen as preparation for 2024, Cronje is not one to back down from a challenge. He intends to compete with the leaders and give it his best shot this weekend.
Friday will see a full day of practice with six 10-minute sessions spread throughout the day. Saturday morning’s Qualifying (09:20) precedes four race heats (10:40, 12:00, 13:50 and 15:10) before an overall round winner is declared.
Cronje thanks Easylife Kitchens, Sparco and Motul for their continued support.
