Recently crowned national Kid ROK Champion Kayde Cornofsky heads to the Vereeniging Kart Circuit this weekend for the final time in 2023 as the MSA Northern Regions ROK Karting Championship comes to an end.
Cornofsky has recently returned from Italy, where he competed in his first ROK Superfinals. This weekend, Cornofsky is competing in his sixth and final round and has dominated the season. In the previous round, the Johannesburg youngster managed to win three times. Even though he has won twice as many heats (10) as his championship rival, he is currently trailing by 17 points due to a technical infringement that resulted in his exclusion from a race heat and, as a result, scored no points.
“I can’t believe the season is coming to a stop. It’s been my best season to date, and I don’t want it to end. To have won the national championship and participated in the Superfinals has been the highlight of my short karting career. This weekend, however, I have a small window of opportunity to claim the regional championship, but I will need a little luck. Logan (Billau) has been quick all season and he we have pushed each other all the way, so I don’t expect anything different this weekend,” said Cornofsky.
Cornofsky thanks Allegiance Properties, Canario Cornofsky Attorneys, Calisto’s Portuguese Restaurant, Smith Garage, the 357 and the staff at the Xtreme Racing Team for their support.
Race day will commence on Saturday with a Warm-Up and a Qualifying Session. Three race heats will conclude the day’s racing. Entry to the circuit is free, and spectators are welcomed.
