Kayde Cornofsky delivered a compelling performance in the second round of the Northern Regions ROK Karting Championship at Zwartkops Kart Raceway, securing third place overall despite facing several challenges throughout the day. The young Xtreme Racing Team driver’s strength and resolve were on full display as he navigated the ups and downs of the race day to secure a podium finish.

The weekend began on a high note for Kayde, who claimed pole position, setting himself up for a promising start. Kayde showed his racing craft from the opening heat, engaging in a back-and-forth battle for the lead. His skill and focus were evident, and he went on to take a well-deserved victory.

However, the day wasn’t without its challenges. In Heat 2, Cornofsky was faced with a mechanical issue that hindered his performance, leaving him to battle through the difficulties and ultimately finish in fourth place. The Xtreme Racing Team swiftly made the necessary adjustments, and the former National Kid ROK Champion returned to the track with renewed focus for the final heat.

In the third and final heat, an incident on the opening lap saw Cornofsky drop to the back of the pack. Refusing to let this setback define his weekend, he fought back decisively, closing the gap to second-from-last before making up two positions to finish in seventh, ensuring he remained in contention for the overall podium.

Reflecting on the day’s events, Kayde said, “It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster day, but I’m happy to come away with third place overall. We had some issues, but the team worked hard to get me back out there, and I gave it everything I had. A big thank you to them. Now, my focus shifts to the national round in Cape Town in a few weeks. There’s plenty of work ahead, but I’m ready for the challenge!”

With his podium finish in the Northern Regions round, Cornofsky now sets his sights on the upcoming national event in Cape Town on 4-5 April, where he will look to build on his momentum and continue his pursuit of success in the Mini ROK class.
