Karting rookie Mikel Bezuidenhout concluded an active 2023 season at the weekend, claiming the runner-up position in the inaugural OKN class that forms part of the MSA Northern Regions ROK Karting Championships.
Hosted at the Vereeniging Kart Circuit, Bezuidenhout qualified in the second position on Saturday morning before finishing the opening heat as runner-up. He could not repeat the result in Heat 2 after suffering a mechanical issue that forced him to retire with two laps remaining. Completing 13 of the 15 laps, he was classified as a finisher in fourth. The final heat would see the MTN Cosmo-Net / Vivo Mobile South Africa driver repeat his opening heat result to claim second overall.
“It’s been a long season,” said Bezuidenhout. “Racing a Senior MAX and the OKN in national and regional competitions has been hectic. But it has been insightful, and I have learned quite a lot. There is no doubt that this will aid me in my 2024 season. I must, however, thank the team at NBR Racing and my family and friends for their support throughout. I am going to enjoy the break before we make a final decision on where we want to head in 2024.”
Bezuidenhout thanks MTN Cosmo-Net, Vivo Mobile South Africa, NBR Racing and Motorsport Fanatix.
