Senior MAX rookie Mikel Bezuidenhout will aim to break into the top five this weekend in Round 4 of the MSA Northern Regions Rotax Karting Championships. The championship, entering its second half of the season, returns to the Zwartkops Kart Raceway for only the second time in 2023, where Bezuidenhout scored his best result thus far, sixth.
The Johannesburg teenager has shown steady progress while competing across the national and regional ROK Cup and Rotax MAX Challenge competitions this season. Currently ranked sixth on the championship table, the MTN Cosmo-Net/Vivo Mobile-backed driver remains optimistic about his chances this weekend.
“I believe the pace is there,” said Bezuidenhout. “It’s a matter of extracting it this weekend. This season, we have shown loads of promise against some of the best Senior MAX drivers in the country. What I might lack in experience, I make up in determination. I just need to put it together over a race weekend. I have a phenomenal team backing me so it’s up to me to bring home the results I know I can.”
Bezuidenhout thanks the support of MTN Cosmo-Net, Vivo Mobile South Africa and NBR Racing. Saturday will commence with a Warm-Up Session followed by Qualifying before three race heats conclude the day’s racing. Entry is free, and spectators are encouraged to attend.
