Aqil chasing more British F4 wins at Thruxton
South African lad Aqil Alibhai is not just content to leave history where it is after becoming the first African driver to win a British F4 race last time out. Alibhai now has his eyes fully set on more wins in the prestigious FIA series, which heads to Thruxton, England for its fourth round over the weekend of 3 and 4 June.
“Now that I have enjoyed the spoils of success, I obviously want more,” Aqil beamed in the lead up to the next round at Thruxton. “We’ve been on a high since my first race win, but now it’s time to focus on the task at hand. I have had great race pace every weekend so far, and that certainly contributed to my first win last time out.
“We must however still unpack a little more qualifying pace to really be competitive in every round going forward. When I start further up the grid, I am more competitive, as that win proved. So we need to maximize how we use my new tyres in qualifying. Either way, we simply cannot wait to get our teeth into Thruxton this weekend!
“I must also take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contacted us, and complimented, and commented so positively on my win last week. We truly appreciate every message, from my family and friends, former rivals, fans here in the UK and back home, and even MSA for all the support. It means so much to us and makes this job so much more gratifying.
“Now for Thruxton. Let’s do this!”
