Fresh off a brilliant couple of weeks racing in Italy, Mason made his way back into the South African racing scene with a superb victory at Round Two of the WPMC Regional Championship in Cape Town this weekend.
Competing in two classes, Mason had double the trouble to contend with as he joined teammates Noah Cronje in Mini Rok and William Marshall & Aleksander Praizovic in OKJ.
With mist billowing from every corner of the track, Mason was unable to find his feet for Qualifying and fell short of the Mini Rok pack, only managing a dismal fifth place finish.
A stealthy Mason played a much different tune in Heat One as he went hell for leather in the mist, setting the fastest lap and taking a well-deserved win, with Kito Kart’s Logan Roehrig hot on his heels.
Keeping the momentum going in Heat Two, Mason banded together with teammate Noah Cronje to fight off Roehrig and claim yet another first place and yet another fastest lap.
Heat Three saw these two Team RPM’s drivers continue to fight the fight together with Mason grabbing the win and Cronje flying strong in second place.
With trophy in hand, Mason walked away from the day with very tired arms but a solidly happy disposition to have taken first place for the day in Mini Rok!
Well Done Aaron.
