Johannesburg karting ace Kayde Cornofsky heads to the Vereeniging Kart Circuit this weekend, where he will compete in the fifth and penultimate round of the MSA Northern Regions ROK Karting Championship.
Currently second in the championship, Cornofsky trails the leader by 25 points despite recording seven victories to the leader’s five. A technical infringement at the last round saw him excluded from the final heat results, the main reason for the significant points margin. Regulations also do not allow competitors to drop an exclusion. Regardless, Cornofsky will entirely focus on winning this weekend as he tries to minimise the gap to the championship leader.
“We have a clear and simple plan this weekend,” stated Cornofsky. “We need to win as many heats as possible now to stand a chance of winning the regional title. What happened at the last round was unfortunate, but we must move on and refocus on what’s ahead.”
Saturday morning will see a ten-minute Warm-Up Session (07:55) followed by a ten-minute Qualifying Session (09:28). Three 10-lap heats (11:06, 13:51 and 15:43) will conclude the day’s racing.
