Alibhai fights for points in tough Croft British F4
South African Aqil Alibhai endured a tough weekend to finish all three FIA British F4 races at Croft over the weekend. While the Johannesburg youngster struggled with pace, Alibhai was happy to bring his Virtuosi Racing Tatuus home in all three races and score valuable points.
“Croft was a challenging one,” Aqil confessed. “We just never had the pace this weekend, so it was more about consolidation than chasing glory. We were happy to come home with a couple more points and a straight car in the end.
“I qualified thirteenth for both the first and last races, which kind of confirmed where we were in the Croft pack. The first race was a difficult one with a lot of action, but I fought home fourteenth between my Virtuosi teammates Douwe Dedecker and Kai Daryanani.
“That put me seventh on the second, reverse race grid. I made the best of that one to come home eighth. I was back thirteenth on the grid off my second quickest qualifying lap for the final, but that was my best race of the weekend and I fought up to tenth for another point.
“Now we look ahead to Knockhill in Scotland in two weeks’ time.” Aqil concluded. “We have an extra heat up there, to make up for the cancelled race at Snetterton earlier in the season, so I’m looking forward to a busy weekend!”
