The MSA Northern Regions ROK Karting Championship resumes this coming weekend, with Round 4 set to take place at Zwartkops Kart Raceway, Pretoria. Kid ROK championship leader Kayde Cornofsky also returns from Cape Town after participating in the recent South African Rotax MAX Challenge round.
Cornofsky has been in sublime form this season, winning seven of the nine heats, including six of the last seven. His early domination at the halfway mark of the championship has seen him enter the second half of the season as a likely favourite to win the regional title. Logan Billau, the biggest threat to Cornofsky’s title chase, is 12 points behind.
“It is good to be back in Gauteng with more predictable weather, “said Cornofsky. “More importantly, it’s good to be back racing at Zwartkops. So far, we have only run at the Formula K Kart Circuit, and returning to the home of karting is great. While we head up the championship, I’m expecting another tough contest from Logan (Billau), Noah (Cronje), Riley (Van Staden) and Diego (Antunes). Furthermore, I’ll be looking at adding a few more wins to the list and extending my lead over the rest. Thank you, Canario Cornofsky Attorneys, Calisto’s Portuguese Restaurant, Allegiance Properties, Smith Garage and the crew at the Xtreme Racing Team.
Qualifying is scheduled for 09:26, followed by three race heats at 11:20, 14:07 and 16:15, respectively. Spectators are welcomed with entry free of charge.
