The 2023 Global Touring Cars (GTC) SupaCup season is approaching its halfway point, with the next race at Aldo Scribante Racetrack this weekend. Arnold Neveling, who emerged victorious after winning the Hankook 12-Hour Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) class in Monza, Italy, is eager to maintain his winning streak and pursue the championship title in the upcoming race.
Despite missing the season opener, the GOSCOR Lift Trucks Volkswagen Polo SupaCup driver is ranked fourth in the championship. With only nine points covering the top three, Neveling finds himself a further 35 points adrift. While elevating himself into the top three this weekend is unlikely, he remains focused on recording a strong result in Gqeberha. From four starts, Neveling has achieved three podium results, most recently being the runner-up at the previous Zwartkops Raceway round.
Neveling outlines a straightforward plan for the upcoming weekend: to accumulate as many points as possible by achieving two wins, the pole position, and both fastest laps. Despite its ambitious nature, Neveling believes it’s achievable, given the hard work the Stradale Motorsport team has put into the car over the past month. They’re excited to see their efforts pay off.
Saturday’s fourth round of the GTC SupaCup will form part of the Extreme Festival tour. The two races are scheduled to start at 13:10 and 16:40 and will be contested over 12 and 15 laps, respectively. A lunch break grid walk on the main straight will precede race 1.
Spectator tickets can be purchased directly from Aldo Scribante Racetrack on Saturday. The full race programme will be broadcasted live on the Global Touring Cars Facebook page and 2WheelsTV YouTube channel.
