Victron Energy was again represented this past weekend through its BLUE POWER ACTIVE ambassadors at various motorsport events. Kyle Lawrence competed in the third regional round of the Northern Regions Kart Championships, while Chloe Stuart participated in Round 2 of Formula Monoposto as part of the Historic Tour.
Lawrence, who has returned to competitive karting this season, was in sublime form claiming two wins and a further podium to claim the DD2 Masters win on the day. His performance was enough to finish within the top four of the combined results, which saw the lighter and faster DD2 class race alongside the DD2 Masters class. We caught up with Kyle after the race, and he had this to say:
“With the second national round only two weeks away my weekend served as the perfect preparation with the event also set to be held at the Formula-K Kart Circuit. My win was also just reward for the hard work that the team has put in and definitely rewarded the faith that Victron Energy has placed within me. A mistake in qualifying, a bruising off in Heat 2 and the fastest lap in the final heat was all part of my weekend.”
Asked how Victron Energy assists in his active lifestyle, Kyle responded, “Victron Energy is a fundamental part of our everyday routine and race preparation. With the constant loadshedding and the need to keep the electricity on, my Victron Energy equipment not only keeps the lights on at the workshop but also assist in powering our tools and office equipment.”
Stuart competed at Zwartkops Raceway in her Class B Formula M, making up the historic single-seater championship alongside several Formula Libre competitors. Stuart had shown great pace in practice and was set to take Pole Position before losing control of the car due to some oil on the circuit. Nevertheless, she still managed to qualify in second place. Her misfortune, however, returned in the opening race after she was pushed off the circuit and onto the gravel runoff area. Making her way back safely onto the circuit, she pushed hard but could not close the gap to the class leader and finished in a gritty second position, while setting the quickest race lap in her class.
The second race would finish under safety car conditions after a solid start to the race. Stuart was carving her way through the field before an incident caused the safety car’s deployment. Stuart finished second on the day. This is what Stuart commented after the day’s races:
“A difficult day out with all the incidents. Regardless we remain positive as our performance showed that we are moving in the right direction. Victron Energy has been fundamental in making this all happen and my dream to become a champion continues. I’m proud to be associated with such an influential brand who is making huge strides in the alternative energy market. Not only do we make use of the top-rated equipment they provide, but we also showcase it on race day and put interested parties in touch with the right people. I look forward to a long-standing relationship with them.”
Both drivers will be back on the circuit in the next few weeks. Lawrence will compete in the second national round of the SA Rotax MAX Challenge, while Stuart switches to her Tillotson T4 Junior kart.
