Senior MAX rookie Mikel Bezuidehout returns to the circuit after the Easter break, eager to improve on his seventh position in the regional standings as Round 3 of the MSA Northern Regions Rotax Karting Championships gets underway at Formula-K Kart Circuit on Saturday, 15 April.
After two rounds, the Johannesburg teenager is yet to break into the top five, having recorded several sixth-placed finishes, something his driver coach, Neil Basilio, is confident of, “Mikel has the talent and ability to run at the front. For someone who has only just started, he has shown an incredible ability to adapt to various conditions very quickly. His only a few tenths off some of the more experienced drivers in Senior MAX. So I reckon it won’t be long before we see him standing on that podium.”
Bezuidenhout is in his first competitive karting season, competing in the Rotax-powered and the Vortex-powered championships. This weekend, the MTN Cosmo-Net-backed driver will be out in his Senior MAX-powered CRG kart and will be the first of three consecutive race weekends to Benoni.
A Warm-Up Session followed by Qualifying precede three race heats before the winner for the round is declared. Spectator entry will be free of charge.
