Jack Moore proved once again why he’s one of the country’s brightest karting talents with a standout performance in Round 2 of the National ROK Cup Kart Championship. Held at the Killarney Kart Circuit in Cape Town, where Jack clinched third in Junior MAX at the recent South African Rotax MAX Challenge Championship, the Eastern Cape driver finished as the runner up in the talent-filled OK-Junior class.
Jack, the reigning National OK-Junior Champion set the tone early by claiming pole position in qualifying, and his pace remained unmatched as he led the field at the start of each of the three heats.
Despite this dominance, Jack’s day wasn’t without drama. An opening lap incident lead to an unfortunate post-race nose-cone penalty in Heat 1, while in Heat 2 Jack was again on the receiving end of some aggressive driving that saw the Xtreme Racing Team driver recieve another post-race nose-cone penalty demoted him to fourth. Undeterred, the Gqeberha native came out fighting in Heat 3, taking a commanding lights-to-flag win with a margin of over two seconds, underlining the true pace he had on the day.
“We showed what we were capable of today,” said Moore. “The pace was there throughout the weekend but it’s frustrating to miss out due to penalties. The kart felt amazing, and I’m happy to come away with solid points and keep my title defence on track. Thank you to the team once again.”
The next national round will take place at Celso Scribante Kart Circuit in Gqeberha on 27-28 June, where Jack will look to continue his title defense in front of his home crowd.
