The motorsport and sim racing communities mourn the untimely passing of Ryan Ottens, a racer whose passion extended far beyond the track. From winning the 2006 South African Regional Superbike Championship to guiding and mentoring fellow riders, Ryan’s impact on real-world racing was undeniable.
In 2020, he embraced a new challenge in sim racing, quickly becoming one of South Africa’s top competitors in Assetto Corsa Competizione. His journey saw him rise from a rookie to a dominant force, securing multiple championship wins, including RaceFace.Pro GT3 and SACRO GT3 titles. He later transitioned to iRacing, representing South Africa on the global stage.
More than a competitor, Ryan was a mentor and a leader, always ready to help others improve and grow in the sport he loved. His legacy will live on in the racers he inspired. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
