SupaCup champion Mogotsi leads 2025 Volkswagen team
Volkswagen Motorsport starts the 2025 racing season with three champions racing its three Polos when the action commences at Killarney’s season opening Extreme Festival powered by Coca Cola in Cape Town on Saturday 8 March.
“We go into the new season with three reigning South African champions at the wheel of our three racing Polos,” Volkswagen Head of Motorsport Mike Rowe explains. “Our 2024 SATC SupaCup champion Jonathan Mogotsi is out to defend his title, backed by Astron Energy Polo Cup champion Jason Loosemore.
Jason earned his SupaPolo seat by winning that title last year and has shown great speed and consistency in testing. Same goes for 2024 Rookie Cup champion Judd Bertholdt, who is promoted to drive for Volkswagen Motorsport in this year’s Astron Energy Polo Cup.”
“We had a mighty battle on our way to the title throughout 2024 and I have no doubt that it will be more of the same this year,” Jonathan Mogotsi pondered. “SATC SupaCup is a most competitive environment so we can take nothing for granted, but to arrive with the best prepared cars on the grid is always an advantage and I look forward to keep doing my brilliant Volkswagen Motorsport team proud in 2025.”
Astron Energy Polo Cup champion Jason Loosemore is relishing his step up to SATC SupaCup at Killarney: “I simply cannot wait to step up to the wings and slicks SupaPolo in Cape Town this weekend,” the Richards Bay South African Hot Rod champion turned Polo Cup champion admits. “Polo Cup taught me all about cut and thrust national circuit racing, and while it’s faster, it’s no easier in the SupaCup. I’m looking forward to learning, adapting and improving to reward the team as the season progresses!”
“After being part of the Volkswagen Motorsport team in the Rookie Cup last year, I am looking forward to flying the flag in Astron Energy Polo Cup,” Rookie Cup champion Judd Bertholdt admitted. “By winning the Rookie title I earned the Volkswagen Motorsport drive in Polo Cup for 2025. I’m looking forward to applying all I learned last season to this new adventure while at the same time learning and growing through the season ahead. Thank you Volkswagen for this incredible opportunity!”
“It’s been a very busy start to the year for Volkswagen Motorsport in the workshop, so the whole team simply cannot wait to get out on track and race with our all-champion 2025 line-up,” Mike Rowe concludes. “Good luck to the team for a great season ahead!”
