On 20th February, a dedicated group of 19 circuit marshals, along with two guests, took part in an intensive training session at Red Star Raceway. Led by experienced facilitators Nigel Cosway and Rob Webber, the session focused on refining essential skills and reinforcing the critical role marshals play in motorsport safety.
Key Focus Areas
The training covered both theoretical and practical elements, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience:
✅ Theory Sessions – Topics included marshal safety, flag marshalling, incident response, fire handling, radio communication, and more.
✅ Assessment – Participants tackled a 40-question test to gauge their knowledge, with guidance provided where needed.
✅ Practical Drills – Real-race simulations helped marshals apply their skills in scenarios ranging from yellow flag situations to full race stoppages.
✅ Interactive Discussions – Q&A sessions encouraged engagement, allowing marshals to deepen their understanding.
Continued Commitment to Safety
Red Star Raceway owner Diego Crabbia reaffirmed his commitment to ongoing training, with plans already in place for additional hands-on coaching during the Historic Inland Tour on 15th March.
Under Nigel and Rob’s guidance, this group of marshals demonstrated dedication and enthusiasm, ensuring they are ready to contribute to safer racing environments. Their hard work strengthens the safety framework of motorsport, and we look forward to seeing their continued progress on and off the track.
