Bambino karting sensation Alonzo de Oliveira approaches the final round of the Northern Regions Rotax Kart Championship this weekend with a commanding 31-point lead over his competitors. However, the young racing prodigy knows he cannot afford to relax.
This Saturday’s event, hosted at the Zwartkops Kart Raceway, is particularly crucial, featuring double points scoring, presenting a golden opportunity for his closest rival to close the gap and challenge for the championship title. With 14 wins, three runner-up finishes and three further podiums, Alonzo will look to add to his impressive 2024 statistics and claim his first karting title since starting out in the sport in 2023.
This weekend’s event will follow its usual format despite a different scoring system. It will get underway on Saturday morning with a warm-up session before qualifying. Three race heats will take place to determine the overall winner for the day, after which the regional champion will be crowned.
