This weekend, ROK Cup South Africa will crown its Northern Regions’ ROK Karting champions as the Gauteng regional competition concludes with a double-header at Red Star Raceway.
Mini ROK rookie and 2023 National Kid ROK Champion Kayde Cornofsky, currently ranked third in the points standings, has not yet achieved a strong result at the newly designed RSR circuit after a challenging first visit. However, this weekend marks the return of competitors for rounds 5 and 6, which will conclude their 2024 season. On a positive note, Kayde heads to Delmas in top form, having performed well in the last round of the competition, claiming his maiden victory. He hopes to replicate that success this weekend.
“I have raced at Red Star twice this season, both at national and regional levels, and we were unlucky both times. While I dont have fond memories of my trips there this season, I believe we can turn that around this weekend. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes and I’m hoping we can reap the rewards this weekend. I’m quite a way off the championship leader and for me to have any chance of taking this championship, I will need to win both rounds this weekend. Let’s see how it goes,” stated Kayde.
