Investchem Formula 1600 rookie Mikel Bezuidenhout, who has left an indelible mark in the class with his remarkable performances, will make his final appearance before it is replaced by South Africa’s newest single-seater, MSA4, in 2025. Mikel will participate for the last time as the championship, and National Extreme Festival conclude this weekend at Zwartkops Raceway.

Mikel has shown tremendous talent throughout the season, and he has improved throughout. Backed by the unwavering support of his sponsors, Huawei Mobile South Africa and MTN Cosmo-Net, the Johannesburg teenager is eager to end his season on a high and improve on his highest-placed finish of fifth, which he achieved three times this season.

“It feels like the season has flown by,” said Mikel. “One minute, I’m making my circuit debut and the next, we’re talking about the last time I’ll race a Formula 1600. It’s been a steep learning curve from karting, but I’ve gained some valuable experience that I hope will set me up for 2025. The plan for this weekend is to push for a podium result. While some more experienced drivers are in the field, I know I have what it takes to be up among them.”

Tickets can be purchased at the gates on Saturday or by emailing Zwartkops Raceway (info@zwartkops.co.za) beforehand. The entire race day programme, starting at 10:20, will also be broadcast live on https://extremefestival.co.za/live/.
