The Bobcat-One Tough Animal-liveried Audi R8 GT3 LMS EVO, sponsored by Goscor Lift Trucks, was in action this past weekend at Zwartkops Raceway. The Stradale Motorsport-prepared racecar finished fourth overall in the GT3 class as part of the Extreme Supercars-Driven by Dunlop Championship in front of an appreciative crowd.
In the hands of the experienced Arnold Neveling, the beautifully prepared Audi claimed second in a closely contested qualifying session, setting up what looked to be an exciting opening race. Unfortunately for the Johannesburg driver, a malfunction on the fuel pump forced him to the pit to resolve the issue, and he went a lap down. Despite rejoining the race, Arnold would finish ninth on track and fourth in the GT3 class.
With the car fully repaired for the start of Race 2, the battle between the GT3 frontrunners intensified. The race was an exhilarating display of speed and sound, with Arnold, Jonathan du Toit, and Charl Arangies vying for the top spot. In the end, it was Jonathan who emerged victorious, leaving Arnold to settle for the runner-up position. The combined results would see Arnold classified in fourth, a testament to the fierce competition in the GT3 class.
“There is not much to be unhappy about. The car was fast this weekend, and we suffered a minor setback during the race. These things happen. To see so many spectators out in support and to put on some entertainment for them is just reward. The car looks great in the Bobcat-One Tough Animal livery, and I know it’s a crowd favourite. Thank you, everyone, for your support, especially Goscor Lift Trucks. We are constantly striving to improve and we hope to better at the next round,” said Arnold.
Round 5 of the championship resumes on 28-29 Jun at the Aldo Scribante Racetrack in Gqeberha.
