A wintery haze set the start for the Trofeo Andrea Margutti this weekend at South Garda Karting in Italy.
The OKJ grid was kaleidoscopic with one of our very own, Ethan Lennon, competing for a coveted spot on the podium. Qualifying practice saw Lennon take 6th place out of 34 drivers on the grid – not a bad start to the day.
Race one went off without a hitch as the Beyond Racing driver rocketed from 6th place at the start to a blithely second place. The race pace in race two was an unenthralling one for the South African as Lennon lost 7 places to finish in a congenial ninth position. Race three saw Lennon in a monumental dogfight after being pushed off in the second lap but gaining back his composure enough to re-enter the fray and finish in a dismal 29th.
An assured looking Lennon booted the competition in the ELIMINATORY ROUND to claw his way back up the grid and glide into a superb 11th place.
The pre-final could have woken up the ancestors with the hunger that this thirteen year old boldly exuded on the track, fighting his way back up seven places to finish 4th for the start of the final.
Lennon held nothing back in the last race, astutely mastering the track with ease and ending off the day with a third place on the podium.
Well Done Ethan and good luck for your upcoming FIA Champs in Valencia.
