Chemical Logistics’ new BMW team, colours ready to race
Chemical Logistics BMW Racing will start the 2024 South African Touring Car championship with two cars at the Extreme Festival season opener at Killarney in Cape Town Saturday 16 March. With both 128tis sporting BMW Motorsport-inspired colours, double champion Robert Wolk leads the team in Investchem colours, alongside SATC newcomer Andy Schofield’s new FlySafair car.
Robert Wolk is looking for even better results in his new livery. “It’s a case of out with the old blue, in with the new BMW Motorsport candy colours,” Robert smiled. “I switched to the new BMW late in 2023 and was immediately at home and on the pace in the car, so with a little more testing and fettling, we’re confident to start the season on the front foot. All I can add is bring on Killarney, let the games begin!”
“I am really excited and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Chemical Logistics WCT SATC team,” Andy Schofield confirmed. “No doubt it will be a big learning curve as a rookie this season but I’m ready and determined to work hard to help the team to have another most successful year!
A commercial pilot at FlySafair through the week, Schofield has established himself as a Formula 1600 and Ford veteran over race weekends. “Being able to bring my day job and have FlySafair along for the journey with me is the icing on the cake. I can’t wait to get started!”
“We are delighted to have the BMW side of the Chemical Logistics WCT garage set all for the 2024 South African Touring Car championship,” team manager Stuart Thompson added. “With both cars flying BMW M colours and a multiple champion and an eager rookie aboard, we’re looking forward to a great season. “We will confirm details of the other side of the garage soon, but rest assured we’re flat out preparing for Killarney!”
“Chemical Logistics Racing welcomes BMW, FlySafair and Andy to the fold,” team principal Ian Schofield concluded. “Andy is an Investchem Formula 1600 stalwart with a solid understanding of car set-up and a strong rapport with his tech team, so a great supplement to our multiple champion Rob. Give it horns guys!”
